The Journey
Karen was an interior designer who spent the first half of her career in the Phoenix market leading and designing corporate workplace projects. She then spent more than five years with Knoll as the Architecture & Design Manager. During this time, she found a passion in engaging employees; giving them a voice in the design of their new workplace.
With 19 years experience in the commercial real estate industry, Karen brings a unique perspective to workplace research and strategy. This combination led to the creation of Empowered Space in 2020.
Empowered Space is a firm which focuses on guiding organizations by developing a vision for their workplace. Seeing the power of research and the gap of this unique service in Arizona, Empowered Space purchased DORIS Research Arizona in 2021.
DORIS Research is a national workplace research firm that specializes in working with organizations to strategize workplace changes by engaging the people who matter, the employees. They use data-driven insights to inform the future of the workplace.
