The Journey
Karen has spent more than two decades helping organizations create spaces that truly work for the people who use them. She started her career in the Phoenix market, designing and leading corporate workplace projects that balanced function with creativity.
Later, as the Architecture & Design Manager for Knoll, she discovered her favorite part of the process—engaging employees and giving them a real voice in shaping their workplace experience. That connection between people and design became the heart of her work.
She then spent five years with DORIS, a renowned research firm that opened her eyes to how powerful data can be when paired with genuine human engagement. This experience deepened her understanding of how people interact with their environments—and how insights from that interaction can transform workplaces.
Karen founded Empowered Space to bring that passion to life. Today, she partners with organizations to define what their workplace can be and guides them in bringing that vision from idea to reality.
